Sexuality and intimacy is an integral part of the human experience. Many cultures consider talking about sex taboo. Unfortunately, this leaves our youth poorly informed. In order to gain understanding, they may turn to the internet or peers for information. This information is not always accurate and may lead to an unhealthy or incorrect perception of sex. The Sex Education service provided by The Empathy Centre is geared towards providing the correct information.
Who is this Service for?
This service is for anyone who is curious about sex and sexuality. This can include adults who were never given ‘The Talk”, or adults who have questions about sex. Couples can also seek this service, in order to better understand the intricacies involved in intimacy. Parents may sign their teenagers up for these sessions as well. If the client is a minor, the parents are required to have a consultation with the therapist, in order to ensure that the parents’ boundaries are respected. Another type of client who may seek this service, are individuals who are questioning their sexual orientation. If this is the case, the client will be provided with information and resources to help in better understanding and accepting their sexuality.
This service is not intended for sexual disorders. It is an educational service aimed at promoting a healthy view of sexuality and intimacy.
