Mr Perception

  • It helped, in ways that make it hard to put it in words.

“I had problems but I was one of those people who thought therapy doesn’t really help. I was someone who believed if you want to help yourself, it’s only up to you. I guess I didn’t like the idea of someone else telling me something I already know and understand. It felt like something about not having control.

Then my problems started to get worse and I kept finding out about problems I didn’t even know I had. I held on for as long as I could but things did not seem to change. On the contrary, they kept getting worse. Soon they started to affect other aspects of my life and I decided to see a therapist.

The first one I saw was exactly how I imagined therapists would be and didn’t help much. This experience pushed me away from therapy for a long time before I considered it again.

When I moved to Mumbai I went to see another therapist. I was scheduled to see someone else but Rahat was available at the time. Given what I had gone through I was a bit hesitant but my instincts suggested to give this a shot. Since instincts have never let me down, I decided to go for it and I couldn’t have been more grateful.

She genuinely cared about helping me (not only about solving my problems) and instead of referring to the playbook, she figured out a gameplan that would work for me. And it helped, in ways that make it hard to put it in words.”

Our client’s privacy is paramount, and therefore whenever we share a client’s testimonial, rather than saying; Mr/Ms X.Y, we give them a ‘nickname’ that highlights their uniqueness without giving away their identity. We also believe it may be fun for them to see their unique ‘nicknames’! We want to reiterate that this client’s testimonial has only been shared with his express consent.

Mr Perception is a 28-year-old male, who has been coming for therapy for about a year. Initially, he came to therapy on the recommendation of his primary physician, who thought his physical health concerns may have been affected by his mental health. Over time we uncovered that he was struggling with Depression and Anxiety. He recently sent in his testimonial and gave us permission to share his words.
